Lawmakers, both state and federal, impact your business in many ways with the laws and regulations they pass. These actions are often taken based on the information lawmakers receive, not because they are experts in everything. HCC’s Political Action/Community Relations Committee, working with our legislative consultant, monitors bills that could affect our members, meets with lawmakers, identifies individuals to testify at the legislature, and has even been invited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to participate in a fly-in event in Washington, DC.

HCC is also active in the Building Jobs for Colorado (BJ4C) Coalition which successfully passed Senate Bill 116 Public Contracting Jobs Protection Act. The Coalition is currently working with the City & County of Denver regarding release of retainage.

HCC’s Public Affairs/Community Relations (PA/CR) Committee with the assistance of our lobbyists,Hicks and Associates, has created Legislative Priorities for 2014.
